Officials from Joplin, Missouri hospital to speak about recovery from 2011 tornado

A leadership team from Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo., is coming to Tufts Medical Center to speak about Emergency Management -- response, recovery, and rebuilding -- and share their powerful story of how, in May of 2011, their hospital was completely destroyed by one of the deadliest tornadoes in United States history. The tornado resulted in over 160 fatalities, injured hundreds more, and left nearly a third of the city of Joplin in ruins. This will be the Joplin leadership group's only New England speaking appearance. The session will be open to the media, in addition to other hospitals throughout New England, Boston first responder agencies, and state-wide Emergency Management, EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement personnel.
